PAPD Help Save Man At Airport

Port Authority Police were able to revive an unresponsive man found in Newark Airport, authorities said.

At about 10 p.m. Thursday, police on patrol found a man with no pulse, not breathing, on the ground of the mezzanine level of terminal A at Newark Liberty Airport, said Joe Pentangelo, a spokesperson for the Port Authority Police.

Officers started chest compressions on the 78-year-old Fords man and applied an automated external defibrillator, administering three shocks. The man was still unresponsive. A second officer took over manual chest compressions until an Advanced Life Support team responded, Pentangelo said.

They transported the man to Newark Beth Israel Hospital for treatment. He survived, said Pentangelo.
