“Port Authority Police Academy graduates receive the most up-to-date, comprehensive and specialized training in modern policing.”
- Port Authority Police Superintendent Michael Fedorko -
Rigorous training enables the force to manage any scenario they encounter—from identifying potential terrorism targets to interacting with mentally incapacitated persons.
Port Authority police recruits attend a six-month basic police training where they’re trained in the criminal and procedural laws of New York and New Jersey—along with some of the most advanced counter-terrorism techniques in the country, first responder medical training, firearm training, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle driver training, firefighting, community relations, interpersonal communications, among other law enforcement disciplines.
Port Authority Police has numerous members on loan to FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, U.S. Marshalls, D.E.A., U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and County prosecutor’s office.
