Monday, April 22, 2024, Port Authority Bus Terminal, Manhattan, NYC;
A 66-year-old New Jersey man sitting in the Bus Terminal's North Wing, reading a book while waiting for a co-worker, was assaulted by a knife-wielding 42-year-old California man. The unhinged attacker, in an unprovoked action, stabbed the man nine times in the neck and arm. Police Officers Jordan Eugenis and Antonio Peterson, who were patrolling in the area, heard the victim's screams. Upon immediately responding, they were presented with the attacker and victim struggling. The attacker was armed with a knife. The officers ordered the attacker to drop the knife twice. After the second demand and at gun point, the attacker dropped the knife and was taken into custody. The officers rendered aid to the victim until FDNY EMS responded. FDNY EMS resumed care and transported the victim to a hospital.
The Port Authority PBA thanks Police Officers Eugenis and Peterson for their selfless actions, taking an armed and violent criminal into custody and professionally rendering aid to a severely wounded victim. A job well done.

Sunday, April 21, 2024, Port Authority Bus Terminal, Manhattan, NYC;
Just after midnight, the PAPD Bus Terminal Command was alerted to a man who climbed over a glass wall on the third floor of the Bus Terminal's South Wing. The glass wall surrounds a large expanse that is open to the South Wing's main concourse far below.
Two First Platoon patrol teams of (L-R) Police Officers Tamika Rutledge, Sharonda LeGrand, Christopher Gugler and Louis Fontinha responded, finding the man perched on the outer ledge threatening to jump to the main concourse below.
The officer's used their training and compassion to de-escalate the situation and convince the man to return to safety. The officers requested FDNY EMS to evaluate and transport the man to a hospital for the care he needs.
The Port Authority PBA thanks these officers for their professionalism and understanding while helping an individual in distress. A job well done.

Monday, April 15, 2024, George Washington Bridge, Fort Lee, NJ;
Police Officer Mike Campoverde (L) was approached by a 42 year-old male cyclist who asked for directions to the George Washington Bridge bike lane. During their conversation, the man asked where he could get water. P.O. Campoverde supplied the man with some alternatives. A short time later, the man returned to Campoverde's location, yelling, "Call EMS, I want to hurt myself, I want to die!" The man then produced a knife, pressing it to his chest and continued shouting, "I want to die!" Police Officer Campoverde immediately approached the man, telling him to drop the knife. Campoverde told the man, "I am here to help you," as the man kept saying he wants to die. As Campoverde continued to assure the man he would help him and again ordered the man to drop the knife, Police Officer Chris Figueroa (R) arrived on scene. Both officers carefully pursued a safe approach, leading to the man dropping the knife and being placed in custody.
Fort Lee EMS responded, evaluated the man and transported him to a hospital for further care.
The Port Authority PBA is extremely proud of these officers' actions de-escalating the situation without injury to the man or officers. A job well done.
